LIVE IN DESTIN, FLORIDA (11 REASONS WHY)

Destin is located in Northwest Florida with beaches as white as sugar and beautiful emerald green waters. It is the ultimate laid back lifestyle but with accommodations to suit everyone. Here are 11 reasons why you need to relocate and make Destin your new home!

Destin is more than just a vacation destination. Here are 11 reasons why you need to extend that week vacation and make Destin your permanent address!

1. The Beaches- The beaches in Destin are absolutely breath taking and just being near the water is proven to be great for your health. Listening to the sound of the waves naturally calms your mind, relaxes you, reduces anxiety and has given even been given the name- “blue mind”. Let Destin provide you with your zen and get here ASAP.

 2. Working Opportunity- We are a far cry from just a tourist community. While Destin does have a bouldering tourist economy, professional job opportunities are not lacking. No need to wait for retirement, your job awaits here at the beach!

 3. “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” - This is written on our billboard as you come in to Destin for a reason. Fishing here can suit any type of fisherman. Because the harbor has such quick access to the deeper depths of the Gulf, it makes for a quick ride to get out there, catch your fish, and bring it home in time to make it for dinner! Also, if you are game for some friendly competition, October is the month of the Destin Fishing Rodeo where people of all ages can bring their catch for a daily weight in. If off shore fishing isn’t your thing, plenty of fish can still be caught in the bay and near shore. Whichever route you take, you most likely won’t go home empty handed.

 4. Arts and Culture- Over the years, the Arts and Culture community has had tremendous growth and shows no sign of slowing down.  From music festivals like the 30A Songwriters Festival or Gulf Jam; to art festivals like Digital Graffiti, there is always something to look forward too. The Northwest Florida Ballet has served the community for 50 years, and not only puts on beautiful performances at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, but also has an Academie that teaches the next generation a love for the Arts.

Aside from the obvious water activities such as boating, surfing, jet skis and paddle boards, you can also take your exploration to new heights with parasailing. Scenic bike paths are also a great way to enjoy the view from a different angle. Beach volleyball is also set up at most beaches, and tournaments are hosted at various times of the year.

6. Golf/ Tennis- If you love to play a round of golf or a game of tennis, you are in luck because our area has some of the best courses and amenities around. The Destin area has over twenty golf courses at your fingertips with one of the most popular courses being the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort which conveniently has a wonderful tennis program. Destin offers World Class tennis facilities that are included in most resort communities as well as TOPS’L Tennis, Watercolor Tennis, and Destin Tennis Club.

7. Boating- It really is a lifestyle in Destin. The boat ramps are busy before sunrise to get that fresh catch of the day, and families enjoy a sun soaked afternoon of play with friends on Crab Island. It is so easy to jump aboard for an evening ride and to dock up at one of the many restaurants our town has to offer. In the summer months you are treated to weekly fireworks from the Harbor Walk, and you can’t beat the view from the comfort of your boat. Being outside is truly the way of life here and lucky for us, and you, the winters are mild enough that the idea of taking the boat out isn’t really ever off the table! While our beaches are beautiful, it is great to see another perspective of paradise.

8. Weather- How can we not mention the weather?! We have the best climate for fun in the sun, and very mild winters. It really is the perfect mix of hot summer days to cool evenings and breezy mornings. Living here, you get the warmth and hot summer days, but you also get treated to crisp beautiful days with little humidity!

9. Restaurants in Destin- Finding a great restaurant in Destin will not be difficult! In fact, you will probably have a tough time deciding where to go. Not only do we have plenty of steak and seafood options with a spectacular view to boot, but a variety of other options as well. The selections can run from fine dining down to pub food, but whatever you pick will probably be something you want to go back for. Most restaurants feature great daily specials and happy hours so it easy to rationalize taking the night off from cooking! If you can think about it, we probably have it.

10. Destin Charity Wine Auction- Founded in 2005, the Destin Charity Wine Auction is a must for any wine enthusiast. This charity is all about raising money to give back to the community and children in need. Recognized as the fifth largest charity wine auction in the United States, they most recently raised $1.2 million dollars and dispersed it among 16 children’s charities in Northwest Florida.
